Exactly one month remains until the 29th edition of the Swimmeeting South Tyrol. Since its debut back in 1997, the event – organised by SSV Bozen and taking place this year
at Maso della Pieve in Bolzano on the weekend of the 15th and 16th November – has served as an early-season testing ground for many international-level swimmers ahead
of major competitions such as the European Short Course Championships, scheduled for 2–7 December in Poland.

“This year our meeting will be held two weeks later than in 2024,” said event director Christian Mattivi. “The All Saints’ and All Souls’ weekend, 1–2 November, was out
of the question for us, while the following weekend, 7–8 November, clashed with the Bolzano Autumn Fair. We were therefore pleased that Genoa agreed to swap dates
with us.” As a result, the Nico Sapio Trophy in the Ligurian capital will take place before Bolzano this year.

As in previous editions, the Bolzano organisers expect around 550 participants from at least twelve countries. The proven competition format will remain unchanged.
The three fastest heats (Top 24) in each event will once again be presented in a compact, spectator-friendly session: on Saturday afternoon from 4:00 to 6:00
p.m. and Sunday midday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. All events will be contested over 50 and 100 metres. The Swimmeeting will start at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday and
9:30 a.m. on Sunday.

A press conference is scheduled for Thursday, 23th October, at the SSV Bozen headquarters in Bolzano, where the organisers will, as usual, present a high-profile
line-up. Mattivi and his organising committee have been working for months to secure top-level athletes from around the world.

“I can already reveal three big names for this year’s edition,” said the Swimmeeting South Tyrol director. Among them is Arianna Castiglioni, one of Italy’s top
breaststrokers over the past decade. The 28-year-old, who currently trains in Imola, boasts almost 70 national championship medals, including 23 golds, as well as
eleven European medals. At the 2021 European Short Course Championships in Kazan, Russia, Castiglioni claimed gold in the 50m breaststroke. She also won
bronze in the 100m breaststroke at the 2014 European Championships in Berlin and silver in the same event at the 2019 edition in Glasgow.

Another strong Italian breaststroker has already confirmed his attendance: Alessandro Pinzuti. His personal bests stand at 57.03 (short course) and 59.20
(long course) in the 100m breaststroke. Pinzuti, too, has earned European medals as part of Italy’s relay team.

The third confirmed headliner comes from the Netherlands: Nyls Korstanje, a two- time Olympian (2021 and 2024) with ten medals from major international
competitions. The butterfly specialist took bronze in the 50m butterfly at the 2024 European Short Course Championships in Budapest and captured gold
with the Dutch medley relay team at the 2019 European Short Course Championships in Glasgow and the 2022 European Championships in Rome. At
the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, he finished sixth in the 100m butterfly.
