Swimmeeting-South Tyrol even more International

The Swimmeeting South Tyrol is at the door
In less than two weeks, on November 7th and 8th,numerous world class swimmers fight for the 19th time for victories and meeting records in the swimming pool in Bolzano. Marco Orsi, Jimmy Feigen from the US, Erika Ferraioli, Silvia Di Pietro and Aschwin Wildeboer have already confirmed their attendance. In the last view
days, the makers of the SSV Bozen could bring more big names under contract.
"Once again we succeeded in attracting numerous top athletes from many different countries to
Bolzano. And we work hard to draw some other big fish ashore, "said OC President Christian
Mattivi. The Spaniard Markel Alberdi will start for the first time Bolzano. He holds the Spanish
record over the 100 m freestyle (49.25) and was semifinalist at the European Championships in
Berlin last year. The Hungarian Krisztian Takacs won Bronze over 100m freestyle at the Short
Course World Cup 2011 in Szczecin, Poland. The Dutch Kira Toussaint has already been in
Bolzano once. In 2012 she won the 100m backstroke race with the still standing meeting record
in 58.25 seconds. The Estonian Maria Romanyuk has covered the 100m breaststroke at the
World Championships in Kazan in 1:09.
Of course, ther are many top swimmers from Italy and one of them is local hero Laura Letrari,
which exercises daily in this pool with her team Bolzano Nuoto. An old friend of the meeting in
Bolzano is Elena Gemo. The 28-year-old, backstroke and dolphin specialist, has been a regular
guest in Bolzano for years. Gemo currently holds all Italian records over 50 and 100m
backstroke. Both on the long course (28,07 and 1.00,22) and in the 25-meter pool (26.77 and
57.35).
Some Italian hopes will demonstrate their skills in Bolzano aswell. Like the 19-year-young
Simone Sabbioni, last year European junior champion over 50m backstroke by setting a new
junior world record in 25.22 seconds. Since the Italian Championships in April Sabbioni also
holds the Italian record over 100m backstroke on long course in 53.49. Racing against him the
only 20 years old Luca Mencarini, who made it into the semifinals over 200m backstroke at this
years World Championships in Kazan.
