Ferraioli, Di Pietro and Codia from Italy

Wildeboer, Vanderpool-Wallace and Laxton at start at the Swimmeeting South Tyrol in three weeks
Three weeks to the show, the starting field gets tight. On 7th and 8th November, the Swimming World class is for the 19th time in Bolzano. The Swimmeeting South Tyrol is the outstanding swimming event in the region. Since 1997 the SSV Bozen - local swim club – has been bringing top athletes from all over the world to this region, known for beautiful mountains and winter sports. No reason to change this this year. "We work almost twelve months to be able to present the audience here a top starting field. Once again this year we can look forward to world-class athletes, "says OC President Christian Mattivi.
Ten days after unveiling names like Marco Orsi, Ilaria Scarcella, Margherita Panzieri, Guillherme Guido or
Alexandra Wenk the meeting director comes up with even more big names. "With Erika Ferraioli, Silvia Di Pietro and Piero Codia more exceptional Italian swimmers come to our meet. From the international scene no other than the Spaniard Aschwin Wildeboer Faber and Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace from the Bahamas have confirmed their attendance. Just the same as the Briton Thomas Laxton did ".
For many years Erika Ferraioli has been one of the fastest swimmers in Italy. The freestyle specialist over 50 and 100 m (over those distances she also keeps the Italian records on short course in 24.09 and 52.70) and is a substantial member of the Italian relays. At the World Championship in Kazan she stood with three Italian relays in the final. At the last European Short Course Championship in December 2014 in Doha, where Italy was able to conquer two bronze medals (4 x 100 m freestyle women and 4 x 50 m medley) and last year in the long-course Swimming Championship in Berlin she fetched with the Italian mixed relay the title over 4 x 100 m freestyle.
Last year in Doha Silvia Di Pietro contribuited for the WC bronze too. She too, for years has been one of the top swimmer in Italy, she holds the national records over 50m freestyle (24.84) and 50 m dolphin (25.78) on long course, and 50 m dolphin (25.38) in the 25-meter pool. Di Pietros presence in the succesful Italian relays goes back to 2012 in Debrecen with Italy's freestyle relay and she also won medals with two relays at the Short Course European Championship. biggest international success of fly-specialist Piero Codia was winning the European Championship title with the medley relay during the long course championship three years ago in Debrecen. Codia, he is 26 years old soon, has also won with his Italian companions gold in the 4 x 50 m medley relay at the Short Course Swimming Championships 2013 in Herning.
For the second time after 2012 the Spaniard Aschwin Wildeboer Faber will be seen in Bolzano. The great
successes of the backstroker is a few years back. In 2009 in Rome he was vice-world champion over 100m
backstroke and has also won two short-course European title (2008 over the 200m, 2011 over 50 m). Wildeboer has set in his career twice a world record over the 100m backstroke. At the end of 2008 on the short course (49.20) and in the summer of 2009 during the Mediterranean Games in Pescara in 52.38 on the long course. After a more than two-year competition break he now tries to qualify for the Olympic Games in Rio.
Also for the second time in Bolzano, after 2013, Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace, the sprint specialist from the
Bahamas, who won this year the Pan-American Games over 50m freestyle in 24.38 seconds and got sixth at the World Championship final in the freestyle sprint in 24.44. Reported for the first time in Bolzano, however, is Thomas Laxton. The Welsh has missed at the World Championships in August the semifinals over 100m delfin for only 0.08 seconds.
